quite quiet : girlhood
“quite quiet” is a nuanced exploration of Japanese femininity and cultural identity that deals with the interplay between silence and self-expression. Integrating song, physical movement, silence and voice, this performance reflects the personal experiences of the Japanese-born, European-based artists. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories and the energy of Tokyo’s club scene in the 1990s, it invites the audience into a contemplative space that explores the perception and reality of Japanese womanhood. The piece is performed by two dancers and unfolds as an intimate performance.
